Barcelona will be looking to close the gap at the top of the table when they host an unpredictable Alaves in what promises to be an intriguing La Liga clash.

Fresh from an entertaining 2-2 UEFA Champions League draw with Atalanta, Barcelona return to league action against an out of form Alaves.

Hansi Flick's side have been in fine form, winning six of their last eight games in all competitions including the 7-1 dismantling of Valencia in their last LA Liga game.

They have been lethal in front of goal with 2+ goals scored in seven of their last eight games across all competitions while over 3.5 goals have featured in three consecutive competitive matches.

Barcelona have struggled in the league though with just two wins in their last nine league games while they have been defensively porous, having failed to keep a clean sheet in ten straight league matches.

Both teams to score have featured in five of their last six home league games.

Alaves head into this fixture on the back of a poor run of form and after their 1-1 draw at home to Celta have now won just two of their last ten league matches.

They have been defensively weak having conceded in nine straight league games while both teams have found the back of the net in seven of their last eight league games.

Alaves have looked labored in the final third with 2+ goals scored in just two of their last eleven league games.

They have conceded 2+ goals in four of their last five away league games while over 2.5 goals have featured in five straight away league games.

Verdict

With Alaves defensive struggles, it could be difficult for the away team to contain Barcelona's quality in front of goal. I'll be backing Barcelona to win and Over 2.5 goals.
