Espanyol vs Real Madrid Preview
Real Madrid will be expected to maintain their four point lead at the top of the La Liga table when they face off against a misfiring Espanyol.
Form
Espanyol have struggled in Spain's premier competition this season and are currently in relegation danger zone with 20 points from 21 matches this season.
They have won just five games all season and following their 1-1 draw to Sevilla have now won just two of their last ten league games.
Espanyol have been poor in every department, with just one clean sheet kept in their last eight La Liga games while they have scored 2+ goals in just one of their last seven league matches.
They are unbeaten in their last five league games with four of those games seeing both teams finding the back of the net.
Real Madrid head into this fixture on the back of a comfortable 3-0 Champions League win over French side Brest.
They have been in impeccable form and have now won nine of their last ten games in all competitions.
Their last La Liga action was a 3-0 victory away to Real Valladolid. The Spanish champions have been in good goal scoring form having scored 2+ goals in six consecutive league games.
Real Madrid have won five of their last seven away league games with all seven games seeing Over 2.5 goals scored.
Verdict
The reverse fixture between both teams was a comfortable 4-1 win to Real Madrid with Carlo Ancelotti's side confident of easily dispatching Espanyol. I'll be backing Real Madrid to win and Over 1.5 goals.
